Bylaws Committee

Purpose

CCBE Bylaws define the internal structure of the organization for all to see instead of relying on the memories of founders or long-time members, governance and other policy decisions can be made based on a concrete document. Bylaws provide a broad administrative framework within which the objectives of CCBE may be achieved. All business of CCBE shall be conducted in accordance with the Bylaws.

The Bylaws Committee consists of members selected by the CCBE President to serve for one year. The committee reviews the CCBE bylaws and standing rules and submits recommendations for amendments to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for approval. The committee reviews the bylaws and standing rules annually to ensure that they are not in conflict with CCBE’s mission.

CCBE Bylaws Review
Share your recommended revisions

The CCBE Bylaws committee will be meeting to review the bylaws, and would like your input. Bylaws outline the structure of an organization and govern its internal management and therefore should be tailored to meet the organization's purpose and mission.  Bylaws must also:

  •  Establish and protect the rights and specify the duties and responsibilities of an organization’s members, Board of Directors, executive committee and others.
  •  Determine how those in charge are appointed or elected and they help settle disputes among parties.
  •  Be formally adopted, reviewed on an ongoing basis and revised/amended as necessary.

The bylaws committee asks that you email any bylaws amendments or revisions for consideration to Charlyn Tuter no later than April 23.
