The "Apple for Excellence" award program promotes excellence in education and county board governance by recognizing outstanding programs and governance practices of county offices of education throughout California. The committee's purpose is to identify an exceptional program administered by a county office of education based on applications submitted through CSBA's Golden Bell Awards.
The Bylaws Committee reviews proposed revisions or amendments to the Bylaws or Standing Rules to determine if the proposed amendments are appropriate. The committee submits its findings and recommendations to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and General Membership for approval.
This committee is composed of board members representative of CCBE’s diverse statewide membership appointed by the CCBE president. The committee assists in the planning of the CCBE Annual Conference and other special events of the organization.
The County Board Governance Committee supports California County Boards of Education as they effectively work within the complex relationships between County Boards and County Superintendents. CCBE believes that each County Board of Education must pursue with the county superintendent the concept of "shared governance" characterized by shared authority, accountability, responsibility, and an aligned vision in a manner that meets the unique needs of their county.
The Nominating Committee is comprised of seven members representing at least four geographic regions of California that are elected each year. The committee is charged with seeking candidates for office who can provide the best possible leadership for CCBE. This committee nominates candidates for the offices of president-elect, vice president, and treasurer.
CCBE has developed a legislative Policy Platform that focuses the organization’s lobbying efforts on behalf of county boards of education at the state and federal level. The Policy Platform Committee revises and refines this document which guides the work of the organization.
The Professional Development Committee members have professional background involving teaching and/or having experience with developing training events. The committee assists in planning the County Board Governance Workshop, specific to county board members.
