Thousands of School Leaders from Across California Convene in San Francisco

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Francisco, Calif. – More than 2,000 school board members and administrators from across the state will gather in San Francisco from December 2-4 at CSBA’s Annual Education Conference and Trade Show. This year’s conference at the San Francisco Moscone Center will provide school district and county office of education leaders with the information and tools they need to grapple with the ongoing budget cuts inflicted on California’s public education system.

"CSBA’s Annual Education Conference provides a unique learning environment for board members to network with key policy officials, compile best management practices for their schools and explore national and statewide education trends,” said CSBA President Frank Pugh. “It is so vital for board members to have an opportunity to hear about what other districts and counties are doing to survive this economic crisis and to learn from experts in the education community.”

CSBA’s three-day conference will feature more than 100 workshops, clinics and critical issues sessions focused on topics such as: closing the achievement gap and the role of district leadership; strategic planning in an era of fiscal crisis; web 2.0; ESEA reauthorization; key characteristics in top performing schools; and CSBA’s historic school finance lawsuit.

The conference will also act as a venue for the annual “passing of the gavel” from the current CSBA president to the incoming president, as well as the announcement of CSBA’s newly elected 2010 Vice President and President-elect. The association will also recognize 62 Golden Bell Award recipients from across the state.
